Dublin Web Summit 2013: MDG Web to pitch seevl

Dublin Web Summit

Dublin Web Summit

The first Dublin Web Summit in 2010 had 500 attendees, now it’s their 3rd year running and it has grown to become one of the most anticipated tech events of the year! We, MDG Web have just received an invite to go and pitch seevl (the day after our launch of seevl.fm on the 29th) at the Dublin Web Summit!

It gives us great pride to be attending the Dublin Web Summit along side some of our peers this year. We’re not the only residents from Dogpatch Labs at this years event, Noel Ruane (Polaris Ventures – Venture Partner and Dogpatch Labs Europe Curator), Will Goodbody (Science & Tech Correspondent at RTE News), Trevor Parsons and Andrew Burton of Logentries (Log management and analytics software‎) will be on the main stage on Wednesday at 9:35 am for “The Dog Days are Here: Ireland’s Calling” talk. Hiri (e-mail management app) will also be representing team Dogpatch as part of the ESB Spark of Genius competition! Good luck everybody!

The buzz around this years event is phenomenal with the guest of honour being none other than Tony Hawk himself! A pro skate boarder who founded the Tony Hawk Foundation which is all about supporting youth and public skateparks. Here he is doing the worlds first 900 (two and a half rotations) in the X-Games!

How crazy is that!? I hope there’s a half pipe on the stage this year!!

We also look forward to seeing interesting keynote speeches from the likes of Lars Silberbauer Andersen (Global Director of Social Media) from Lego, Michelle You (Co-Founder) of Songkick (Love that app!) and much more! Paddy Cosgrave and the Dublin Web Summit team have done a fantastic job with the list of attendees this year and it’s great to see an Irish technology event like this become so big! If you are curious about the Dublin Web Summit team and their HQ, Heisenberg Media has done up an interesting article about them.

The MDG guide to The Night Summit

You know how much we LOVE to support Irish music!? The Dublin Web Summit has recently announced the line up of artists for their live shows at The Night Summit event sponsored by spotify! There are 30 acts playing the night summit every day in the RDS Dublin. They have only announced the first 15 acts so far, here are the top 3 that you should go and see:

1. Le Galaxie – After just releasing “Lucy” a taster of the album to come. These 80’s inspired robo-rockers are sure to play a banger of a set that will not disappoint leaving you yelling “TUNE” at the top of your voice while waving glow stick in the air! “Love System” could possibly be the song of the DublinWeb Summit!

2. The Cast of Cheers – Not the actual cast from the TV show Cheers! They have been touring on and off since the release of their last record “Family” in 2012. Known for their intense spikey math-pop tunes and live sets, they will not disappoint.

3. The Dublin Gospel Choir –  If all that’s to much of a sensory overload you can relax and enjoy the vocal harmonies from 30 of Dublin’s finest trained voices and a 5 peice band! Having played Electric Picnic this year The Dublin Gospel Choir have been successfully “doing their thing” across the country. They play the RDS on the 31st, don’t miss it!

It’s going to be a great event this year! We will be blogging about our experience at the Dublin Web Summit this year so watch this space.

In the mean time follow us for regular updates about the up coming release for seevl.fm AND seevl for Deezer on the 29th of October!!
